Post Publication Discussion Policy

Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Wiraraja Medika: Jurnal Kesehatan is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and supporting open, transparent academic debate. We recognize that the scientific process continues after publication. Therefore, we provide a formal mechanism for readers to submit critiques, clarifications, corrections, or constructive discussions concerning published articles. This policy outlines the process for submitting post-publication critiques, authors’ right of reply, and potential corrective actions.

Submission Process

Readers who wish to comment on or critique a published article may submit a formal Letter to the Editor or Commentary under the following guidelines:

  • Submission Channel: Submissions must be uploaded through the journal’s online submission system or sent directly to the editorial office at wiraraja.medika@wiraraja.ac.id.
  • Scientific Merit: Submissions must clearly cite the target article’s title, authors, volume/issue, and DOI. Critiques must be evidence-based, methodologically sound, and focused strictly on scientific content.
  • Tone and Decorum: Language must be professional, objective, and respectful. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject submissions containing personal attacks, defamatory statements, or offensive language.

Author’s Right of Reply

To ensure fairness, when a reader’s critique passes the initial editorial screening:

  • The editors will forward the critique to the original authors.
  • The original authors will be invited to submit a formal Author’s Response, typically within 14–30 days.
  • Authors are expected to address the specific points raised by providing scientific arguments and data.

Editorial Evaluation and Publication

The editors will evaluate both documents, the Reader’s Critique and the Author’s Response. Where necessary, the editors may consult independent peer reviewers to assess the content of the debate. If approved, the critique and response will be published simultaneously in an upcoming journal issue and digitally linked to the original article.

Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions

If a post-publication discussion identifies significant errors or ethical issues in the original paper, including concerns about research ethics, participant safety, or the validity of clinical findings, the journal will act in accordance with COPE guidelines.

  • Correction (Erratum/Corrigendum): Issued when honest, minor errors are identified, such as mislabeled graphs or typographical errors in data, that do not alter the paper’s core conclusions.
  • Expression of Concern: Published when there is a strong, unresolved suspicion of scientific misconduct or data manipulation while a formal investigation is ongoing.
  • Retraction: Issued when findings are proven fundamentally unreliable because of severe errors, plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication.

Informal and External Discussions

While we recognize the value of independent discussion platforms and social media, Wiraraja Medika: Jurnal Kesehatan is not obligated to respond to critiques raised outside its official channels. We strongly encourage researchers to use the formal submission process so that concerns can be thoroughly investigated.
